Jan T. Bestebreurtje is a veteran coffee trader and investor, who first set foot in Colombia in 1968 and since then has travelled a few hundred times there. After founding the Netherlands-Colombia Business Council in 1993 he spent time as member of the board of N.C.H., the oldest specialized and not-for-profit business promotion foundation in international trade and investment promotion of the Netherlands. Later he became president of NLABC, Netherlands-Latin American Business Council, which, with its continent-versed and Spanish speaking staff was and is very active with many incoming and outgoing trade missions focussing mainly on Colombia, Peru, Chile, Venezuela, Panama and Mexico.
Jan Willem van Bokhoven, a former Business Administration and Intercultural Communication student who has been responsible for the spectacular growth of activities of TRANSFER Latin Busines Consultancy in The Netherlands. Last April he led a successful multisectoral trade mission with 21 Dutch companies to Bogotá together with the Rotterdam Chamber of Commerce. TRANSFER Latin Business Consultancy is a leading company in offering assistance to exporting companies looking to exploit market opportunities in Latin America, Southern Europe and the Benelux (Belgium and The Netherlands).
Arno Oudijn is head of the Bilateral Affairs Division of the International Tax Policy and Legislation Directorate of the Netherlands Ministry of Finance. This division conducts negotiations on Conventions on the elimination of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion (DTC’s). This division is also working on so-called mutual agreement procedures. Such procedures provide an instrument for the competent authorities of the contracting states to solve individual cases of double taxation under DTC’s for instance transfer pricing-issues, difference in opinion in interpretation. Arno Oudijn has obtained a master degree in Tax law at Leiden University (1987). He has worked for the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration in a Large Enterprises Unit (1987-1996) and as a senior policy advisor in the area of tax policy and legislation (1996-2001). Prior to his current role he was head of the Labour and Capital Income taxation Division (2001-2008).
Erik Plaisier is a Business Economist with a passion for International Cooperation and Economic Development and Latin America. He has 10 years of experience in International Cooperation and Project management in Latin America, (Eastern) Europe, Africa and Asia, working with World Bank, EBRD, EC, IFAD, FAO, SNV, and The Netherlands Government-funded program CBI - Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries. CBI - Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries - is an Agency of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Established in 1971 in order to support producers / exporters to get a foothold in the Netherlands market, to support Business Support Organizations in improving their capabilities and to act as a Matchmaker between suppliers and buyers. CBI aims to be the expert in export development and export promotion from developing countries. Its contribution consists of sustainable strengthening of the competitive capacity of SME exporters and producers in developing countries, focusing primarily on European markets.
